Katrina and the Waves Re-Issue
Katrina and the Waves
The success of Katrina & The Waves — featuring once and future Soft Boy Kimberley Rew — began when their "Walking On Sunshine" became a hit. Landing a record deal with the Canadian label Attic Records, they released Walking On Sunshine and Katrina & The Waves 2... then signing to Capitol-EMI, they re-recorded twelve of the songs for their major label debut, and the two Canada-only LPs were never heard again... until now!

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of these original recordings, they've been remastered and re-released in a limited edition package that includes a
deluxe booklet with exclusive interviews and more, plus a DVD featuring a 1983 concert, photos, the original "Walking On Sunshine" video and a brand new 2003 video for "Dancing Street". For more info, and to order, visit Bongo Beat records.

Spring Forward

Those of you who caught the Soft Boys' Paris outing last March will remember Lee Cave-Berry on bass. Well, Lee's first solo album Spring Forward is out now and features Kimberley Rew and frequent Hitchcock collaborator Deni Bonet, among others. Check out her site for more info.

Wig in a Box

Robyn appears on Wig in a Box - The Songs from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a charity album for the Hetrick-Martin Institute. The album features a wide range of performers covering Hedwig songs, and a new song of Robyn's based on Hedwig. Titled "City Of Women," the song also features fellow Soft Boys Kimberley Rew and Morris Windsor, as well as Paul Noble on bass and Terry Edwards on saxophone.

Carved in Rock

Carved in Rock: Short Stories by Musicians includes a story by Robyn Hitchcock, titled "Narcissus". Edited by Greg Kihn and published by Thunder's Mouth Press, the book was published in April.

Soft adieu

As of March 2003, Robyn has left the Soft Boys, the pressure of being in the band and managing it having gotten to be too much, and the bulk of the reunion project being complete, anyway. So there won't be any further Soft Boys gigs... but we'll still be here with CDs, articles, photos, and other goodies for you.

Hitchcock journal
Smart missiles, talking squirrels, and the meaning of life... it's all in Robyn's online journal for Slate Magazine, which ran from December 9th until the 13th of 2002.

Nextdoorland

Featuring the same lineup that brought you Underwater Moonlight, the long-awaited Soft Boys reunion album was released on Matador Records in September of 2002 to much acclaim. It also sprouted a Side Three (released independently on the Editions PAF! label), which you can buy right here.

We have track listings and lyrics for both Nextdoorland and Side Three.
